Pool Time

The temps have gotten warmer & looks like we might have some great swimming/pool time later in the week. Low 90's expected for most of week. I started the process of getting the pool ready over the last few days. It was good enough that I got in tonight to vaccuum. Logan was just itching like crazy to get his toes wet. I let him get in, with strict orders to not go under since we haven't added chemicals yet. I've been using the equipment you see in photo a lot. Handle on left is the brush handle that extends WAY out so I can get to the middle from each end (w/out entering water). White hoses are the vaccuum hoses, & old mop on right is what we use to brush off the dead algae which sticks to the bottom & sides. Gotta be loosened up so the filter can do it's thing or I vaccuum up if it clumps w/ enough other particles.

You have got to be kidding me

I'd been working on the pool, came inside & asked Steph to get the laundry out of the dryer. She told me it was still wet. I told her to turn it back on for just a few min's. She then tells me the dryer isn't working. WHAT? We just bought this washer/dryer brand new April 10th. Delivered on April 16th. After checking everything we can think of, it's still not working & their offices are closed due to the weekend & holiday. So hopefully they can troubleshoot the issue w/ me tomorrow when I call them after work.

Take Cover

We have been having terrible weather here lately. We received not one, but two tornado warning phone calls tonight from bcalert. The first call, we'd been watching the weather (Joplin, MO tornado hit earlier tonight). The storm, with rotation & funnels, were getting pretty close to us. So we had shoes on, & bike helmets & had kids taking cover in bathtub. Mattress from Steph's bed was propped up in bathroom & we even practiced once getting under & hanging on to mattress. Our Dish Network went out (of course), but Chris got a live streaming up on my laptop so we did have coverage. Second call of night was after we were in bed sleeping. Chris's mom called just before the bcalert call. We got the tv on & had a signal. The cell that was worrisome started moving south of us, so we took a chance & didn't wake the kids up.

Baby Shower gift

Hard to tell in the photo, but it says Lillian. This is for a teacher at the school. Her baby shower is tomorrow.

Scrapbooking & Strawberries

So far Retha & I have kept our New Years Resolution of scrapbooking (or crafting) once a month. This was May's get together at my best friend, Pam's house. A co-worker of hers, who I consider a friend of mine also joined us for a bit too.
Came home after scrapbooking & picked the first batch of strawberries, yummy!

Grill Time

I love Chris's grilling. He makes the BEST burgers, & his chicken breasts ROCK!! Not to mention I don't have to cook. Anytime he says he'll grill I take him up on the offer.

Christmas Gift

Chris & I received this fire pit as a Christmas gift from his parents Christmas 2009. Yes you read that right 2009. I bought the little propane tank for it & never used it, til tonight. The temps were a little on the chilly side! Chris was grilling for the fam & I decided to try out the little fire pit. We had some issues getting it started, but after borrowing his moms fire pit & trying out our tank & it working he figured out the issue & got ours to fire up. It worked good for making 'smores later on after dinner also. I've always liked fire pits & now I have a perfect size for our small backyard or the occasional craving for a real fire toasted 'smore.

OMG!

So less than a week ago I am stopped at a stoplight on my way to pick Logan up from school. This lady is walking across the street (on the crosswalk). Just as she reaches almost the front of my car she jumps backwards. I'm wondering what is going on. Then all of sudden a gold smaller SUV comes flying around the corner (making a left turn) & doesn't even slow down. She continues on walking after SUV passes. Light changes & myself along w/ two vehicles heading opposite direction as myself just sit there. I was stunned & my heart was racing like you wouldn't believe. I'm sure theirs was too.

Then today as I'm sitting in the turn lane to turn into Steph's dermatologist office a man is crossing the street (on crosswalk). A truck is heading opposite direction as me. Truck is going fairly fast, but I don't think much of it really. UNTIL.......the truck gets almost to the the guy & then swerves real fast into the other lane & misses him barely. Steph & myself both gasp. My heart is again racing like you wouldn't believe & I hope & pray there isn't a third time.

Teacher Appreciation Week

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. Since Logan's teachers have worked so hard with us this year I wanted to show them that I appreciated them with a small gift. I did find copy this idea from another blog I read.

Her tag is way fancier than mine, but with last minute I hope all Logan's teachers liked them. One has sent home a thank you card so it's a possiblity that he gave one & drank 7, lol.
